SPC Strategic Plan 2025 - 2027

GOAL: Amend County Land Use policies to maximize the balance between economic growth and the preservation of natural resources for the general health, safety and welfare of Sussex County residents and visitors

Key Objectives:

Perform a comprehensive review by the end of 2026 of all current Sussex County Land Use Codes to identify where codes are vague, outdated, lack clarity, criteria, and objective standards

Review current Natural Resource protection standards and make the necessary amendments to bring into conformity and alignment with regional standards

Secure the adoption of a Sussex County Carrying Capacity Analysis requirement which regulates the maximum intensity of development based on actual infrastructure capacity
