
2023 Achievements in Sussex County
June. Sussex P&Z denies the Stillwater Harbor Plan, voting 4-0 and citing "indisputable facts based on county code and ordinances that support denial of the application." See In The News for links to press coverage.
June. Sussex P&Z denies the proposed 3,259-square-foot restaurant at Osprey Point, which did not include a commercial element in the original proposal. Neighbors will not have to endure increased traffic and noise coming from outside the neighborhood. See In the News for links to press coverage.
July. After a unanimous vote in the Senate and House, Senate Bill 6, introduced by Senator Russ Huxtable, now goes to the Governor's desk for his consideration. September. The SPC presents County Council with a slideshow showing the overwhelming public desire to protect forested areas in Sussex. Over 2,000 respondents' votes and comments are available here. SPC members make a strong showing at the Development Design Workshop held by County Council and Planning & Zoning.
November. County Council states the intention to address all of the items discussed at the Workshop in policy development, including perimeter buffers, open space, interconnectivity, and forests.
